Recent CCL/PCB News

1).UMC, the world's second largest microchip foundry, said on May,3, its printed circuit board unit World Wiser Electronics would merge with three other PCB makers - Unicap Electronics Industrial Corp. , and two unlisted companies Bestmult Industry Co. and UniMicron Technology Corp.

``The merger makes sense for World Wiser as the PCB industry is ripe for consolidation,'' said Mark Baughan, a technology analyst with Deutsche Bank based in Hong Kong.

Unicap and World Wiser are listed on Taiwan's over-the-counter market.

The merge makes the company as No. 1 PCB shop in Taiwan.

　

2.) Nelco confirmed China plant plans in Wuxi. to supply multilayer material for PCB to local companies.

Nelco Wuxi will be located approximately 140 km northwest of shanghai, in the wuxi-Singapore Industrial Park. The Nelco Wuxi facility is expected to be operational during the quarter ending Nov.25,2001.
